Medical Marijuana Supply Chain
Grower/processors play a vital role in medical marijuana cultivation, extraction, processing, packaging and distribution, and adhere to strict safety and compliance regulations.
After marijuana plants have grown and are harvested, they are put through rigorous testing by an independent state-approved laboratory, which collects samples of processed forms of medical marijuana and tests to ensure that the product is free of contaminants, labeled properly, and are of consistent quality and potency.
State-approved forms of medical marijuana include those considered medically appropriate for vaporization or nebulization, pills, topical forms (gels, creams, and ointments), tinctures, liquids, oils, and flower. Edibles are currently prohibited. These approved forms are then sent to dispensaries, for purchase by patients and caregivers with a Pennsylvania medical marijuana card.
